Blue Blood: Threading Sustainability Into All We Do

4 Nov 2025

At Blue Blood, sustainability isn’t a buzzword, it’s stitched into the very fabric of who we are. From the partners we work with, to the way we deliver, package, and recycle, we’re proud of the positive steps we’re taking to reduce our impact on the planet and give back to our communities.

Partnering With Like-Minded Brands

We choose our suppliers carefully, making sure they share our values. That means working with manufacturers who lead the way in sustainability and ethical practices.

  • ØRN Workwear – A carbon-neutral manufacturer with a focus on traceability, durable design, and accredited sustainable materials such as GRS and OEKO-TEX. Their commitment to ethical sourcing and a living wage is just one reason we’re proud to stock their workwear.

  • Brook Taverner – Known for their formal wear, they back this up with a clear sustainability and environmental statement, focusing on responsible sourcing, waste reduction, and continual improvement across their operations.

  • Stormtech – Through their Pure Earth programme, they’ve introduced sustainable materials into their collections, achieved Climate Smart certification, and made responsible sourcing a core part of their brand.

  • Gildan – A global leader with a transparent ESG strategy. Their vertical integration gives them tight control of their supply chain, and they publish detailed targets for climate, circularity, and worker welfare through regular ESG reports.

By collaborating with sustainable brands, we not only provide better-quality products for our customers, but we also support fair labour practices, lower carbon footprints, and innovation in eco-friendly materials.

Smarter Deliveries With Cycle Couriers

We’re proud to partner with Velocity, a local sustainable cycle courier service. Switching to e-cargo bikes and electric vans has cut our carbon emissions dramatically.

In just 7 months, we:

  • Completed 200 college deliveries

  • Saved 145 kg of CO₂e (the same as 1,036 km of driving or 71.7 litres of petrol!)

Beyond the numbers, cycle couriers also reduce noise pollution, support local employment, and contribute to healthier, greener cities.

Packaging With Purpose

We’ve taken a hard look at our packaging to reduce single-use plastic and increase recyclability. Here’s what we’re doing:

  • Mailers and tape include a degrading agent to help them biodegrade.

  • Cardboard boxes are recycled from our suppliers, avoiding unnecessary extra packaging.

  • By 2026, we’ll eliminate single-use plastic packaging entirely.

Giving Back: Clothing Donations

We believe excess clothing should never go to waste. Instead of sending overruns and samples to landfill, we partner with local homeless charities to donate bulk drops of clothing every year.

This not only reduces textile waste but also supports vulnerable people with clothing for warmth, dignity, and even job interviews.

Our Pathway to Net Zero

We’ve set ourselves ambitious targets to keep us moving forward:

  • 2025 – All local deliveries fully low-emission, packaging plastic-free

  • 2026 – 100% renewable energy in all facilities

  • 2028 – 80% sustainable garment sourcing

  • 2030 – 50% carbon emission reduction overall

  • 2040 – Net Zero

Our Promise

Sustainability is a journey, and we’re committed to being transparent every step of the way. We’ll share updates on our progress, celebrate milestones, and be open about challenges too.

Because for us, sustainability isn’t a tick-box exercise, it’s about creating a business that’s good for people, good for communities, and good for the planet. Together, we can thread sustainability into everything we do.
